Community Features:
Lebanon is a farming town best known for its American Revolution history, where it was a major base for American operations. According to its town website, Lebanon has more than 100 active farms that produce dairy and maple products, eggs, cattle and vegetables. Its Farmers Market opens in June and runs through October at Lebanon’s Town Hall. The Farmers Market includes 20 local and regional vendors The town offers many outdoor activities, including sites open to the public for walking, hiking or camping. The community of nearly 7,000 residents is home to the historic Lebanon Green that sits amid a library, churches, the town hall and some of the most important buildings connected to the state‘s role in the Revolution. The Green is a mile in length and a major portion of it is still used for agriculture. During the winter months, a portion of the Green is flooded for ice skating. Lebanon is near Norwich, Willimantic and New London, which offer major shopping and restaurants. The town is 20 miles from Hartford, the state’s capital.

More than 1,200 students attend Lebanon’s three schools: Lebanon Elementary School, Lebanon Middle School and Lyman Memorial High School. The high school is a regional vocational agricultural science center – the Lebanon Regional Agricultural Science and Technology Center – one of 19 across Connecticut.
